This 3-day (7/31/2025 – 8/2/2025) workshop will be a comprehensive study into painting the portrait in oils. Casey will demonstrate his process each morning, discussing key elements that are the building blocks of a successful painted portrait. His demos will include his approach to both Alla Prima and studio portraits.
This workshop is open to all artists with some painting experience who are interested in improving their ability in traditional oil painting. Artists, ranging from beginning to advanced, will work from a live model and receive one-on-one instruction to deepen their knowledge of portraiture.

Artefex Allinpanel is a professional art panel for oil and acrylic painting with 100% linen canvas acrylic-primed in Italy and adhered with BEVA 371 film to a two-sided aluminum composite panel, consisting of two aluminum sheets laminated to both sides of a black polyethylene core.
💡 This is the perfect surface to practice and refine your portrait skills as you paint from a live model under Casey’s guidance.

We use 3mm thick ACM panels to provide the most durable, rigid, and long-lasting support for your art. ACM panels do not react to relative humidity and other environmental changes, providing a very stable support for artwork. For larger sizes up to 5ft by 10ft we use a 6mm thick Gridpanel.
Finally we inspect and stamp every panel before sending it to you. This stamp represents an insurance policy not just for artists but for collectors. Your artwork is safe on an Artefex panel for generations.

To be honest, I've never done a bad painting on one of these panels!
